BasiGo Launches Rwanda’s 1st Intercity Electric Coach
The Intercity Electric Coach is our latest product, specifically designed for long-distance travel across Rwanda’s hilly terrain. With a 350 km range on a single charge, the Coach can complete return trips to key destinations across all four provinces.
Each coach is optimized for efficiency and passenger comfort, featuring reclining seats, undercarriage luggage space, USB charging ports, and a 10-year / 1 million km battery warranty. Two seating configurations are available: 35-seater and 42-seater.
At the launch event, held in Rubavu - near the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu, we handed over Coaches to five leading Bus Operators:
𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 – plying the Kigali-Nyamata-Huye route (in the South), a 336 km round trip
𝗞𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗶 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 – that travels to Rubavu in the West, 320 km round trip
𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 – to Rusumo, near the Tanzania border, 322 km round trip
𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 – Kigali-Gicumbi-Nyagatare; and
𝗞𝗶𝘃𝘂 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗟𝘁𝗱 – to Karongi, one of the steeper terrains & most demanding routes
Every province tells a story, and we continue to demystify electric buses for countryside journeys - to enable everyone experience the various provinces through new lenses.
We are grateful for the strong support from Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), the Rubavu District leadership, and ATPR at the launch event, underscoring the growing collaboration to scale electric mobility nationwide, aligned with Rwanda’s 2030 climate targets.
